PENSACOLA, Fla. - Cincinnati Reds right-hander Rookie Davis pitched six innings and homered in a rehab assignment with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, who had three total home runs in a 12-7 win that completed a five-game series sweep of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at Blue Wahoos Stadium Sunday night.
Davis (1-0) pitched a season-long six innings, retiring the side in order in four separate innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and no walks with four strikeouts. His second career home run extended a 9-3 Pensacola lead in the third inning.
The Blue Wahoos (21-8 second half, 51-46 overall) took the lead in the bottom of the first inning against Jacksonville right-hander Kolton Mahoney (3-5). Left fielder TJ Friedl hit a one-out double to left-center field and scored on first baseman Mitch Nay's RBI single. In the bottom of the second inning, Pensacola scored six runs.
