Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact (3-11-5) hopes that returning to Stade Saputo will be beneficial for the team, when it hosts the Portland Timbers (5-6-9) Sunday at 8pm (EDT, TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690).

Excellent tickets are still available for the game via ticketmaster.ca or at Stade Saputo's ticket office before the game. Season tickets holders will be rewarded through different ways on Sunday, during the second and last home game of the Member's Month.

The Impact will play the last of a gruelling three-game streak in only nine days, but will fortunately start a three-game home stand in front of its supporters at Stade Saputo.

The team will have the chance to quickly rebound from a 3-1 loss at Real Salt Lake, last Thursday night in Sandy.

"We're obviously looking to get a good result at home, said Impact assistant coach Mauro Biello. We've had some disappointed losses as we felt we played well enough to get points on the road but we didn't. It's now about playing at home in front of our fans and getting us back in the win column."

The Impact has had success over Portland in the last two seasons. In the first two matchups against the Western Conference team, the bleu-blanc-noir won 2-0 in 2012 at Olympic Stadium and 2-1 in Portland in 2013.

Currently sitting seventh in the West, Portland won its last game 2-1 at home against the Colorado Rapids on July 18. It was their first win in five games (1-3-1), including a 3-1 loss against Seattle in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Portland still has one of the most daunting firepower in MLS, scoring 32 goals in 19 games this season.

Maximilano Urruti returned to action last week, scoring the equalizer against the Rapids. New Designed Player Fanendo Adi has so far registered four goals and two assists in his five first games in MLS.

Midfielder Diego Valeri remains one of the best midfielders in the league with four games and eight assists this season.

On the Impact side, midfielder Issey Nakajima-Farran will serve an automatic one-game suspension Sunday after receiving a red card Thursday night against Real Salt Lake. Sanna Nyassi, Eric Miller and Adrian Lopez will all miss the game due to injuries.

Defender Karl W. Ouimette will be suspended if he receives another caution Sunday.

After this matchup against the Timbers, the Impact will face its Canadian rivals from Toronto FC, next Saturday, August 2, at 5pm, before playing its first game of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday, August 5, against Salvadorian club C.D. FAS at Stade Saputo.
