COMMERCE CITY, CO - Chivas USA fell 3-0 to Colorado Rapids on Friday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as injuries impacted the Red-and-White's regular starting line-up. A brace of goals in the first half by Nick Labrocca and Drew Moor followed by a third tally by Gabriel Torres halfway into the second half propelled the home side to keep the three points local.

It was the 16th minute of the match when the local side opened the scoreboard. Colorado's Labrocca made space for himself on the top right corner of the box to deliver an unstoppable shot to the right top corner of Dan Kennedy's goal for the one-nil advantage.

The Red-and-White looked to respond when defender Donny Toia ran the ball up the left flank in the 21st minute. As Leandro Barrera made a deep run into the box, Toia delivered a 40-yard cross to the opposite side to Barrera, who after controlling it sent it back to the middle of the box, but Colorado's defense cleared the danger.

Five minutes later, the Rapids scored their second tally of the night off a corner kick served by midfielder Dillon Powers. Colorado's captain Moor came running into the box to power home the header for the 2-0 lead at halftime.

Coming into the second half, the Red-and-White pushed their numbers forward in an attempt to trail back when Barrera tried to setup Erick Torres from the left side of the box in the 48th minute. However, Colorado's keeper Clint Irwin present for the save.

Despite several opportunities in the starting minutes of the second half, the Goats had their best chance in the 73rd minute of the match when Akira Kaji, on his Major League Soccer starting debut, crossed a ball to Barrera who was standing in the opposite side of the field. Barrera sent the ball into the mix, surpassing Torres and Ryan Finley to find Marco Delgado alone against Witt. As the young midfielder aimed to shoot on goal, several defenders from Colorado managed to deflect the ball to a corner kick.

Immediately after Chivas took the set piece, the Rapids embarked themselves on a counterattack that ended in their final goal of the night in the 75th minute. Forward Gabriel Torres found himself on the left top side of the box with enough space to put a ball over the Red-and-White defense and Kennedy to seal the 3-0 final result.

After three consecutive weeks on the road, Chivas USA will now return to the StubHub Center to host FC Dallas on Sunday, Aug. 3.
