Head to Head

This is the final of three regular season matchups between these teams in 2013. In their last meeting, the Impact fell 2-0 to the Crew in Columbus back on June 15. On April 14, the Impact and Crew tied 1-1 at Stade Saputo. The two teams faced each other in the championship game of the Walt Disney Pro Soccer Classic, in Florida, winning the final by a 1-0 score.

Impact News

The Impact is undefeated in its last four regular season games (3-0-1), including a 4-2 win over the New England Revolution last Sunday, at Gillette Stadium. Patrice Bernier scored two goals form the penalty spot (4G) and Marco Di Vaio added to his lead in the scoring race by with a brace (17G). Di Vaio was named MLS Player of the Week for the 28th week of action in MLS.

The Impact is undefeated in its last five matches at Stade Saputo (3-0-2), including three straight victories. The last time the team played at home, the Impact outclassed the Houston Dynamo 5-0,which saw Di Vaio put in another two-goal performance.

The Impact's DP has scored six goals in his last four games, two in each of the team's three wins over that span (3-0-1).

Defender Matteo Ferrari's next match will be the 50th of his career with the Impact in MLS. Fellow defender Jeb Brovsky has been issued four yellow cards since the start of the 2013 season. His next caution will result in an automatic one-game suspension.

Midfielder Andres Romero will be available Saturday, after missing the last game while in Argentina to witness the birth of his twins.

The Impact announced this week that defender Adrian Lopez will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in the right knee, suffered in training last week.

Crew news

The Crew has had some difficulty getting results over the last little while, going 4-9-0 in its last 13 games. As a result, head coach Robert Warzycha was let go by team management two weeks ago and has been replaced on an interim basis by former assistant Brian Bliss.

In two games since he's taken over, the Crew is 1-1-0, losing its last matchup on the road at Sporting Kansas City by a 3-0 score.

Injuries have ravaged the Crew, with starting goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum, Argentine defender Glauber and midfield stalwart Eddie Gaven out for long periods. In addition, knocks to leading scorer Federico Higuain (tied at 9G) and 10-year veteran centre back Chad Marshall may keep the two key players out of lineup on Saturday as well.

The good news is that backup keeper Matt Lampson has been solid in Gruenebaum's absence, going 3-3-0 with a 1.33 goals against average in his last six games.

Forward Dominic Oduro (9G) continues to drive defenders nuts with his blazing speed and homegrown midfielder Will Trapp returned to action against SKC following injury.

Doubleheader at Stade Saputo

Following this game, both teams will also meet in an MLS Reserve League match, at 4:30pm at Stade Saputo. The game is free of charge and open to the public.

On Sunday, following the Procure Walk of Courage, the Impact will travel to San Jose to take on the Earthquakes on Tuesday, September 17, at 10pm ET in CONCACAF Champions League action. The game will be broadcast on TVA Sports.

The team will then return to Stade Saputo to host the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, September 21, at 2pm ET, in a regular season matchup.
