
Illo Making Strong Impression At Worlds

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm's Radoslav Illo, playing for Team Slovakia, scored four points in his first two games at the 2010 IIHF World U20 Championship.
A native of Bystrica, Slovakia, Illo was named Slovakia's player of the game after scoring two assists in a 7-3 loss to Team USA on Dec. 26. Illo followed by scoring two points on a goal and one assist in Slovakia's 8-3 win over Latvia on Dec. 27.
With four points, Illo is tied for 10th among tournament scoring leaders, which includes some of the world's top young players.
The World Juniors, hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation for players age 20 and under, runs through Jan. 5 in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The event includes the top international players from the United States, Canada, Slovakia, Latvia, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, Finland and Austria.
Illo, 19, scored 11 goals and six assists through the Storm's first 17 games before leaving to join Team Slovakia. He will rejoin the Storm for its Jan. 8 game at home against Cedar Rapids.
Slovakia (1-1-0) plays Canada (2-0-0) tonight in Saskatoon. Canada has not allowed a goal in the first two games and has outscored the opposition 22-0.
Tri-City will resume play following the USHL Winter Break this week, as the Storm battle the Sioux Falls Stampede on New Year's Eve at 8:05 PM at the Viaero Event Center.
