Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO, TX -- On Monday the Indoor Football League's Board of Directors voted to terminate the membership of the Louisville Xtreme, the Frisco Fighters' upcoming opponent, for failure to meet and maintain league obligations.

The Xtreme were scheduled to play in Frisco Saturday night. By removing Louisville from the schedule, the Fighters' June 19 Faith and Family Night home game will not be played. The team is looking into rescheduling its Faith and Family Night festivities to another home game later in the season.

"Losing this opportunity to be able to play in front of our great fans in Frisco is definitely a disappointment," said Stephen Evans, President and General Manager of the Fighters. "However, we fully support the decision of the league and look forward to being a major part of the IFL's continued growth as the world's leading indoor football league."

The first-place Frisco Fighters, off to a 4-0 start in their inaugural season, will next play on the road at the Duke City Gladiators on Saturday, June 26. The next Frisco home game will be on Saturday, July 3 at 7:05 pm at Comerica Center in Frisco.

"This is a regrettable situation, but as our league continues to generate positive momentum this became a necessary action," said IFL Commissioner Todd Tryon. "We have tremendous respect for Victor Cole and his partners in Louisville and the hard work they put into developing Louisville as a viable IFL franchise. However, as we position the IFL for long-term success, it is imperative that we maintain the high standards we have set as a league."

The IFL recently announced a national television partnership with Stadium and continues to maintain its position as America's top indoor football league. In its 13th season, the IFL boasts teams from coast to coast and features many iconic indoor football brands. Recently the league announced a new expansion franchise for the Las Vegas market owned by Vegas Golden Knights Chairman and CEO Bill Foley, in partnership with Dollar Loan Center Founder and CEO Chuck Brennan.

The Fighters will reach out to those who purchased tickets to the June 19 game, as well as sponsor partners, in the coming days.
