Idaho Tops Victoria 4-1

BOISE, ID- Aki Seitsonen scored his first two goals as a Steelhead to help the Idaho Steelheads (12-7-5) to a 4-1 win over the visiting Victoria Salmon Kings (10-13-3) at Qwest Arena. Rookie forward Kael Mouillierat scored his 11th goal of the season to keep his point-per-game pace through 23 contests intact, and Mike Zacharias won his seventh game in net on the season.

Seitsonen opened the scoring with his first of the season when he and John Swanson moved in two-on-one, and Swanson placed a puck on the tape of Seitsonen, which he tapped under Victoria goalie David Shantz for the game's first goal at 19:06 of the first period.

Kael Mouillierat scored the only goal of the second period to give Idaho a 2-0 lead on the power play when he tapped home a rebound at 14:54 of the middle frame with assists going to Mike Gabinet and Mark Derlago. Cody Lampl also assisted on Mouillierat's 11th of the season.

Rob Hennigar tipped in a point shot for Victoria at 6:14 of the third period to cut Idaho's lead to 2-1.

At 11:57, Idaho answered when Mike Gabinet scored from the point on a five-on-three power play to complete his "Gordie Howe Hat Trick"; a goal, an assist, and a fight. Derlago assisted on Gabinet's third of the season.

Seitsonen added an empty-net goal at 19:12 of the third period to seal the victory for Idaho.

Mike Zacharias recorded the win in net as he stopped 28 of 29 shots; he is 7-3-2 on the season. David Shantz stopped 32 of 35 Idaho shots, and his record falls to 6-9-3.

Idaho and Victoria will be back in action Friday night at Qwest Arena in a game that will feature the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots Toy Toss, which will gather toys for children in the Treasure Valley.
