Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Idaho Steelheads hockey fans have an opportunity to help Treasure Valley children on Friday night at the team's annual "Teddy Bear Toss" at Qwest Arena against the Victoria Salmon Kings.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new, plush, unbreakable toy to the game and throw it on the ice when Idaho scores its first goal of the game. Fans that don't bring a stuffed animal to the game will have an opportunity to buy one at Qwest Arena. The Steelheads Booster Club will be selling toys at the game, including "Blimpie Bears," for $2, $5, or $10, depending on the size. All toys thrown onto the ice will be collected by the US Marines as part of their annual Toys-for-Tots campaign.

Teddy Bear Tosses are popular events across hockey. The rival Bakersfield Condors collected almost 6,300 stuffed toys at their Teddy Bear Toss earlier this season. The Florida Everblades also topped 6,000 toys collected while the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League saw an astounding 23,096 toys thrown onto the ice, causing a 45-minute delay to pick them all up.

The game will also feature a performance by the Fresno State marching band on the eve of the UDrove Humanitarian Bowl between Fresno State and Northern Illinois.

Friday night's game against Victoria is also another 4-for-$44 promotion, where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, and four Pepsis for just $44. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
