Idaho Stampede News Release
The Playoffs are set The 2006 CBA Playoff schedule has been released. The Stampede will play their first two games on the road and then host Gary at Qwest Arena on March 20 at 7:10 p.m.
The Stampede schedule is as follows:
Thursday, March 16 @ Rockford, 6:05 p.m. MT
Saturday, March 18 @ Albany, 5:35 p.m. MT
Monday, March 20 @ Idaho, 7:10 p.m. MT
It is important to note that the two teams that play in the finals will be completely determined by the number of quarter points that are earned during the first round. This means that even if a team loses their first game they may still make the finals if enough quarter points are won in the second and third games.
Fans can now reserve tickets to the playoffs by calling 388-HOOP (4667).

Stampede play in Rockford Thursday, March 16 at 6:05 p.m. MT
Rockford is led by Ronnie Fields, Roger Powell and Marlon Parmer who all average more than 20 points per game and are 2, 3 and 4 in the league in scoring, respectively. All three were all-stars this year along with teammate Kenyon Gamble and Powell was selected as this year's CBA Rookie of the Year. Powell has been especially effective against the Stampede this season. In four games against Idaho he has averaged 25.3 points and 11.3 rebounds. Rockford has won 5 out of their last 10 games. Their roster has been basically the same the entire season with their six impact players having played 43 or more games with the team this season.
The Lightning do have playoff experience. Rockford's head coach Chris Daleo led Rockford to the CBA Championship game last year. Rockford won their semi-final playoff series 3-2 and then lost to Sioux Falls 1-3 in the championship. Cordell Henry and Sidney Holmes were with Rockford last year in the playoffs. Henry averaged 14.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 9 playoff games while Holmes averaged 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds.

Albany Patroons, 20-28, 13-11 @ home Stampede play in Albany Saturday, March 18 at 5:35 p.m. MT
Albany has been led all season by rookie TJ Thompson who leads the league in scoring at 25.4 points per game and is sixth in assists and steals with 5.2 and 1.8, respectively. James Thomas is also a force as he has averaged 19.6 points and 14.6 rebounds in the 19 games he has played with the Patroons. Both Thompson and Thomas were all-stars and average 24 points apiece against the Stampede. These two, as well as teammate Jamario Moon, were selected as all-stars. Albany has won 7 out of their last 10 games.
This is Albany's head coach Michael Ray Richardson's first CBA playoffs as a coach but the organization he coaches for has a rich post-season history. In 1984 the Patroons won the CBA Championship under now Los Angeles Laker coach Phil Jackson. Then, in 1988, they won their second championship under legendary coach Bill Musselman.
Idaho is 3-1 (20,8) vs. Albany Previous match-ups December 6 @ Idaho, Idaho wins 107-81 (6,1) - Chenowith 17 rbs January 14 @ Idaho, Idaho wins 108-106 (5,2) February 3 @ Albany, Idaho wins 99-86 (6,1) - Chenowith 12 rbs February 4 @ Albany, Idaho loses 102-107 (3,4) - Washington 17 pts
Gary Steelheads 29-19, 10-14 on the road The Stampede will host Gary on Monday, March 20 at Qwest Arena at 7:10 p.m.
The Steelheads are now led by 2006 CBA All-Star Most Valuable Player Randy Holcomb and Chris Alexander. Holcomb is averaging 19.2 points per game and Alexander is grabbing 10.1 rebounds per game. Though Gary has eight players that have played over 40 games for them this season, they are now without the services of all-star Jimmie "Snap" Hunter who has left the team to play overseas. Gary has won 6 out of their last 10 games and 13 out of their last 17.
This is Gary's head coach Jaren Jackson's first trip to the CBA playoffs as a coach. He was, however, a member of two CBA Championship teams as a player with Witchita Falls in 1991 and LaCrosse in 1992. He also won an NBA championship in 1999 with the San Antonio Spurs. Assistant Coach Cliff Levingston is no stranger to the playoffs. While Jackson was winning CBA championships in 1991 and 1992, Levingston was winning NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. That's a lot of rings amongst the coaching staff. Jackson played against Coach Wolf in the NBA in 1992 when Jackson was with Golden State and Wolf was with Denver.
Idaho is 3-1 (19.5,8.5) vs. Gary Previous match-ups December 13 @ Gary, Idaho wins 106-97 (6,1) - Chenowith 22 pts, 11 rbs December 20 @ Idaho, Idaho wins 117-93 (6.5,0.5) - Chenowith 17 rbs January 20 @ Gary, Idaho loses 97-100 (2,5) - Williams 10 rbs February 25 @ Idaho, Idaho wins 103-98 (5,2) - Williams 19 pts
Playoff history The Stampede enter the playoffs for the fifth time in franchise history with a mark of 7-9. Under Bobby Dye in 1998 the team lost in the first round 2-3 to Sioux Falls. The following year again under Dye, the team went 2-3 and lost in first round to Fort Wayne. Then in 2000, the Stampede lost a play-in game to LaCrosse under coach Rory White. 2004 was a magical season under Larry Krystkowiak, going 3-2 in the playoffs and making it all the way to the CBA Championship game, losing to Dakota 129-132.
This is head coach Joe Wolf's first trip to the CBA Playoffs. Randy Livingston has been here before. He was with the 2004 Idaho team and in five playoff games averaged 17.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists. He also played a total of 30 games in 1998 and 1999 for Sioux Falls. In 35 playoff games Livingston has averaged 17.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.9 assists.
