IceMen Assigned 2 Defenseman from AHL Affiliate

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Evansville IceMen have been assigned defenseman Thomas Larkin and have been loaned defenseman Joe Lavin, both from the team's AHL affiliate, Springfield Falcons.

Larkin, a fifth-round selection (137th overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, played in seven games for Springfield last season. The 22-year-old Larkin, standing at 6'5", 221 pounds, played at Colgate University of the ECAC from 2009-13, where he appeared in 147 games and tallied 58 points on 15 goals and 43 assists.

Lavin, a fifth-round pick (126th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, played for the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL from 2010-13. There, he played in 112 games, totaling 27 points on four goals and 23 assists.

The 6'3", 200 pound blue-liner played collegiately at Notre Dame of the CCHA from 2009-11. He appeared in 62 games and recorded 27 points on nine goals and 18 assists.

Both Larkin and Lavin come from a Springfield defensive corps that had 10 defenseman prior to the transactions. Neither player had seen action early on in the 2013-14 AHL season for the Falcons.

With the additions, the Evansville defense is now eight bodies strong, as the roster now sits at 21 players with Opening Night coming up Saturday.
