IceDogs Open Meridian Centre with Win
October 16, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs opened the Meridian Centre with their first win of the season as they topped the Belleville Bulls 7-4 Thursday night.
Playing off the energy of the electric, sellout crowd, the IceDogs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, with Mikkel Aagaard and Brian Brosnan each scoring their first of the season. Jordan Subban answered for the Bulls with a point shot on the power play that beat Moran, who made saves in the game.
Aagaard wasn't done at one. He added his second of the night and Anthony DiFruscia also tallied for the IceDogs to increase their lead to 4-1 heading into the final period.
The goals kept on coming in the third period. The Bulls would get within one thanks to goals from Aaron Berisha, Michael Cramarossa and Subban. Graham Knott scored early in the period and a power play goal by Cody Payne at the half-way point was enough to get the IceDogs their first win of the season and the first win in the brand new Meridian Centre.
The sellout crowd of 5300 was loud and proud all night long and it was an unforgettable moment for the city of St. Catharines.
