
IceDogs Fall to Majors in Mississauga

The Niagara IceDogs were defeated by the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors Sunday afternoon at the Hershey Centre by a score of 10-1.
Darren Archibald scored the lone goal for Niagara, while both Mark Visentin and Mike Gallardi spent time in net for the 'Dogs.
Jason Wilson set the tone early as he and Rob Flick went toe-to-toe just 49 seconds into the game.
Mississauga won the first period as they scored three unanswered goals beginning with Justin Shugg at the 3:05 mark. Maxim Kitsyn then followed up with a unstoppable snipe to make it 2-0, and Marc Cantin tallied the third.
IceDogs' rookie Billy Jenkins created a few good scoring chances for the 'Dogs, but the Majors would take their 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Majors mirrored their first period performance and scored another three goals in the second period, giving them a 6-0 lead after 40 minutes. The shots were 27-12 in favour of Mississauga.
The Majors scoring another three goals early in the third, but the IceDogs managed to break the shutout as Darren Archibald potted his 31st of the season on the power play to make it 9-1.
However, shortly after the Niagara tally, Casey Cizikas scored on a wrap-around to give the game a score of 10-1.
After a tough weekend, the IceDogs will look to regroup and prepare for their next three games against Erie, Peterborough, and Brampton next weekend.
Fans shouldn't forget the IceDogs Skills Competition will be held tomorrow (Family Day) at 1 p.m. at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. It's Free Admission, and the fun-filled day should give both the fans and team a positive experience before heading into next week.
