The Niagara IceDogs fell to the Barrie Colts by a score of 5-1 in Barrie on Saturday night.
The IceDogs would fall behind in the first half of the first period as Barrie would score twice in the opening 7:26, the second on the powerplay, to take a 2-0 lead. Shayne Rover would answer back for the IceDogs at the 12:46 mark of the period, going hard to the net and scoring to cut the IceDogs deficit to 2-1. That would prove to be it for scoring in the period as the IceDogs headed to the first intermission down 2-1. Shots after one were 15-11 IceDogs.
The second period would see the IceDogs look to find the equalizer, but it would be Barrie who would pick up the next goal, scoring shorthanded at the 18:13 mark of the second to make it 3-1. That would be it for scoring in the second, as the IceDogs trailed the shot total 20-17 after 40 minutes.
The third period would see Barrie add two more goals, while the IceDogs would be unable to score again, as Niagara fell by a final score of 5-1. Final shots favoured Barrie 37-26.
The IceDogs will now head to Kitchener to take on the Rangers tomorrow afternoon, before returning home next Friday and Saturday to host the Belleville Bulls and Peterborough Petes. Tickets for these and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at all IceDogs ticketing locations.
