
IceDogs Drop OT in Barrie

The IceDogs were visiting the Sadlon Arena tonight to take on division rivals, the Barrie Colts. Going into tonight's game, the Barrie Colts were coming off of a 5-1 loss to the Mississauga Steelheads who put an end to their 11-game point streak. The Niagara IceDogs went into the game looking to improve from last nights 4-1 loss to the first-place Ottawa 67's.
Josh Rosenzweig would start in goal tonight for the IceDogs second game of three straight.
1st Period
At just 2 minutes into the game, Juan Copeland broke into the offensive to set up Andrew LeBlanc on the 2-on-1 for a one timer to net his fourth of the year. The lead lasted 23 seconds as Punnet answered quickly to tie the game for Barrie with 17:35 to play in the opening period.
After 20 minutes, both teams went 0/1 on the power-play and Barrie lead the way in the shot column 7-16.
2nd Period
To open up the scoring in the middle frame, Chris O'Flaherty sent a lead feed to Daniel Michaud for a breakaway to beat the the Colts net-minder and mark his fourth goal and fifth point in the last four games. The assist would mark O'Flaherty's first point as an IceDog since being acquired from Windsor in a trade yesterday. Two unanswered goals from the Colts would give Barrie a one goal lead at the end of the middle frame.
Josh Rosenzweig continued to stand tall with 25 shots on the night.
3rd Period
To open up the final period, a point shot from David Jesus found Juan Copeland out front for the tip to tie it up 3-3. Jesus continues to lead the IceDogs with assists as he gets his 17th assist of the season. The secondary assist came from Michael Podolioukh for his first point as a member of the Niagara IceDogs.The game was tied 3-3 at the end of regulation to be decided in extra time.
OT Period
4 minutes into the overtime period the Colts sealed it to take the win. Josh Rosenzweig continued to stand on his head in the overtime period saving 6/7 shots to mark 38 on the night.
The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on the North Bay Battalion at 2:00 PM in the North Bay Memorial Gardens.
