Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs dropped a 5-3 decision to the visiting Mississauga Steelheads on Thursday night at the Meridian Centre.
Powerplays would be the story of the first period as Mississauga would score a pair of goals with the man advantage, the first on a 5-on-3 to take a 2-0 lead. The IceDogs would not quit however, answering back with a 5-on-3 goal of their own from Anthony DiFruscia before the end of the period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Shots after 20 were 14-12 for the home side.
The second period would get off to a great start for the IceDogs as Nick Pastorious would pull the IceDogs even at 2-2 just 1:08 into the period. Unfortunately for the IceDogs the period would be downhill from there as Mississauga would answer with three goals including two more powerplay markers, one on a 5-on-3, to take a 5-2 lead after two. Shots after two were 27-20 Mississauga.
The IceDogs would get one back in the third period as Josh Ho-Sang would take a pass shortly after leaving the penalty box, go flying down the wing and cut to the middle before firing one home to make it a 5-3 game. The 'Dogs would have some excellent opportunities late, but that would be as close as they would get, falling by that same 5-3 score. Final shots were 31-31.
The IceDogs and Steelheads will be right back at it tomorrow night as they head down the QEW to finish up a home and home. Game time from Mississauga is scheduled for 7:30pm. The game will NOT be shown live on TVCogeco tomorrow due to the annual Rotary TV Auction, but fans can still catch all the action live on 610 CKTB, the OHL Action Pak or online on OHL Live. The game can also be seen on tape delay on TVCogeco at midnight.
The IceDogs next return home to host the Saginaw Spirit a week from tonight on Thursday, December 10th at 7pm. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location!
