Niagara IceDogs News Release

Myles Doan led the Niagara IceDogs with two goals as they defeated the Sudbury Wolves by a score of 5-1 at the Sudbury Community Arena Friday night. Freddie Hamilton, David Pacan and Andrew Agozzino also had multi-point games, while Mark Visentin played another solid game between the pipes for Niagara.

Alex Friesen opened the scoring at the 7:34 mark of the first period by roofing the puck over the shoulder of Jacob Riley to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead with the help of Andrew Agozzino and David Pacan.

The IceDogs held onto their one goal lead with Mark Visentin playing a solid game in net during the first to give the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead going into the intermission.

Niagara started out strong in the second period as Myles Doan picked up his 4th goal of the season just 1:20 into the second with the help of Freddie Hamilton and Shayne Rover to give the 'Dogs a 2-0 lead.

IceDogs Captain Andrew Agozzino followed up shortly after by letting a wicked wrist shot go to beat Riley in the top right corner to increase the lead to 3-0 at the 3:58 mark.

David Pacan picked up his second assist of the game on the play to continue his recent hot-streak, while call-up Nik Knezic also recorded an assist in a rare game away from the St. Catharines Jr. B Falcons.

The Wolves answered back with their first goal of the game after Mathew Campagna made a beautiful move to the backhand to beat Visentin and cut the IceDogs lead to 3-1.

Dougie Hamilton regained the three goal lead for Niagara after breaking into the zone and letting a powerful wrist shot go to beat Riley glove side and give the game a score of 4-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The third period began with both teams exchanging scoring chances, but neither team would capitalize until the 12:48 mark as Myles Doan kept up his stellar play and notched his second goal on the game after Steven Shipley made a perfect centering pass to give Niagara a 5-1 lead.

The IceDogs killed off a few power plays throughout the third, and held on to their commanding 5-1 lead to pick up a win over the Sudbury Wolves.

Niagara's next game will take place tomorrow as Marty Williamson and the IceDogs will pay a visit to his former team, the Barrie Colts at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be available for fans in Niagara on TVCogeco and 105.1 The River.
