Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael's lost their first game in regulation on home ice dropping a 3-2 decision to the Oshawa Generals tonight. As a result the Majors record now stands at 25-4-0-1 on the season, which still keeps them at the top of the division and Eastern Conference.
The Majors took the lead on two separate occasions but could not put it away and the Generals capitalized. Corey Bureau put the Majors ahead at 9:10 of the first period to give Mississauga the lead. Derek Schoenmakers took the puck from behind the Generals goal and made a centering pass to Bureau who actually fanned on the shot but got enough on it to beat Peter Di Salvo. The Majors appeared to go up 2-0 but the goal was called off at 14:06 when it was ruled there was a glove pass resulting in the decision. Boone Jenner scored on the power play at 17:07 to tie the game at 1-1. Jenner's shot got through traffic and beat JP Anderson low glove side. The Majors regained the lead over a minute later courtesy of Joseph Cramarossa. Justin Shugg carried the puck into the Generals zone and passed to Stuart Percy. Percy carried the puck in and connect with Cramarossa who was waiting at the side of the Oshawa goal. Cramarossa made no mistake and made it 2-1. The Majors took the lead into the first intermission.
Christian Thomas opened the scoring just 51 seconds into the second period to tie the game at 2-2. His first shot was saved but he put the rebound past Anderson. The Generals took the lead at 10:19 of the second when Andy Andreoff batted the puck out of mid-air and past Anderson to make it 3-2. That concluded the scoring and sent the Generals to the 3-2 decision. Peter Di Salvo made 28 saves and recorded the victory for Oshawa, while JP Anderson made 21 saves in a losing effort for the Majors.
