Niagara IceDogs News Release
The IceDogs won 5-2 against the North Bay Battalion in front of a sellout crowd for the Teddy Bear Toss game.
The game got off to a bit of a slow start. However, on a powerplay, Kirill Maksimov scored to get the Teddy Bear Goal! His shot from the edge of the faceoff circle was assisted by Ben Jones and Jason Robertson. Five minutes later, Robertson got one of his own from right in front of the net! Philip Tomasino and Akil Thomas were credited with the assists for Robertson's 31st of the season.
Despite a few penalties, the second period remained calm for both teams. North Bay capitalized on a powerplay just over halfway through the period, tying the game and ending on a 2-2 score.
The third period started slow, but ended fast for the 'Dogs. Maksimov got his second of the night! His goal, assisted by Jones and Ivan Lodnia, came from the circle to beat North Bay's netminder. The most action came after North Bay pulled their goalie to get the extra attacker. The 'Dogs scored two empty net goals in under 30 seconds to solidify the win! Matt Philip got the first assisted by Drew Hunter. Elijah Roberts pinched from the blueline to get the second empty netter unassisted.
With tonight's 5-2 win, Robertson extended his point streak to 15 games and re-gained the league's point leader.
