WORCESTER, MA - It was announced this afternoon by the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) that defenseman Tom Koivisto has been reassigned to the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The 2002 winner of the Finnish Elite League Best Defenseman Award has appeared in 22 games for the St. Louis Blues this season, registering two goals, four assists and 10 penalty minutes: 22(2/4/6)10. Koivisto, also a member of the 2002 Finnish Elite League All-Star Team, began the season with the Blues before being reassigned to Worcester on November 24th, 2002. In seven games with the IceCats, the right-handed blueliner recorded one goal and four PIM's: 7(1/0/1)4. A native of Turku, Finland, he was drafted by the St. Louis Blues, with their 8th choice, 253rd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Worcester wraps-up their five game road trip with a game in Providence on Friday and one in Lowell on Sunday. The 'Cats return home to the Centrum Centre on Wednesday, January 15th with a 7:05 game against the Springfield Falcons.
