St. John's IceCaps News Release
HARTFORD, CT. -The St. John's IceCaps remained strong on the penalty kill to top the Hartford Wolf Pack 5-2 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT on Sunday evening.
Sven Andrighetto potted the IceCaps first goal just 30 seconds into the game, with Chris Terry and Michael McCarron picking up the helpers. The Wolf Pack was quick to answer less than a minute later to tie it up.
Joel Hanley continued the scoring with a wrister from Charles Hudon and Markus Eisenschmid; while Hudon added a power play marker (from Andrighetto and Mark Barberio) to give the IceCaps a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Bobby Farnham scored the IceCaps' first shorthanded goal of the season from Jacob de la Rose, but the Wolf Pack came back to cut the lead in half with a marker from Matt Carey. Jeremy Gregoire sealed the win with a late, power play, empty-netter from McCarron and Nikita Scherbak.
It was a penalty-laden game for the IceCaps, who continued on their strong penalty kill outlasting nine shorthanded shifts. Charlie Lindgren stopped 23-of-25 shots in the win.
