
Ice Seeks Conference Gold

With two wins last weekend, the Ice needs one more point or any Oklahoma City loss, overtime loss or shootout loss in its remaining four games to capture the Northern Conference regular season championship and gain home ice advantage for the entire Northern Conference portion of the playoffs. Indy is currently the only team in the conference to have clinched a playoff berth as the five contenders are four points apart with under a week remaining in the season.
BIG "40" LOOMS: With a win this week, the Ice will reach the 40-win milestone for the first time in its four-year CHL history. The 39 wins at the moment equals the mark set during the team's 1999-00 championship year, but which occurred in a 70-game schedule.
RIDERS ON THE STORM: The defensive pair of Bernie John (1G, 8A) and Scott Lewis (3G, 3A) carry four-game point streaks into this week's play...Veteran centerman Kevin St. Jacques (3G, 5A) is also riding a four-game point streak...Jared Dumba has a goal in five of his last six games...Jason Baird (4G, 9A) and Randy Holmes (2G, 7A) have points in eight of their last nine games.
CHART TOPPERS: Bernie John is one game shy of 600 for his pro career and went over the 200-assist mark for his Ice career over the weekend...With a goal last Friday in Austin, Etienne Morin (39 points) passed Blaz Emersic (99-00) and will finish the year with the second best point total for an Ice CHL rookie (Peter Bournazakis had 77 points in 2001-02)...With a win this week, Shawn Silver will become the first goaltender in Ice CHL history and the second goaltender in franchise history (Jimmy Waite- 34 wins in 1989-90) to win 30 or more games in a season.
TEAM TIDINGS: Kevin Popp was activated from 45-day I.R. before Saturday night's game, while forward Simon Duplessis was waived to make room for Popp...The Ice is second in the CHL with 18 road wins and is currently in the midst of a three-game road winning streak...The Ice has killed off its last 15 opponents' power plays...New Mexico makes its first ever trip to Indy on Saturday night, while Austin comes to town for only the second time in franchise history.

* 11 different players made the scoring column with Bernie John (4 assists) and Kevin St. Jacques (2 goals) leading the offensive barrage...Shawn Silver stopped 30 shots for his 29th win of the year.
BLAZERS REBOUND FOR 4-1 WIN
* Jonathan Dubois (2 goals) and a 40-save performance from Boyd Ballard were too much for the Icemen...Scott Lewis tallied the lone Ice goal.
