Ice Pilots Two Game Winning Streak Snapped

Pensacola, FL - The Ice Pilots had their two game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night losing at Florida 5-2 in front of 5,363 fans at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.

Brendan Cook scored the first goal of the game scoring his ninth goal of the season on a rebound shot by Pete Gardiner to give the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead at the 5:59 mark of the first period. Pete Gardiner would give the Ice Pilots a 2-0 lead scoring a power play goal on a back hand with 1:39 left in the first period.

Florida scored four power play goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead. Kevin Bergin started it off scoring from in front of the net at the 1:17 mark of the second period and Bogdan Rudenko would tie the game at two scoring from the left wing circle at the 6:38 mark.

Jonathan Lehun would give the Everblades a 3-! 2 lead at the 7:46 mark going top shelf on Ice Pilots goalie Frederic Cloutier from the right side. Ernie Hartlieb would give the Everblades a 4-2 lead scoring his 15th goal of the season with 1:41 left on a five on three power play advantage.

Phil Aucoin would add an empty net goal with 25 seconds left in the game to give Florida a 5-2 win. Frederic Cloutier was the losing goalie for the Ice Pilots and Craig Kowalski was the winning goalie for Florida.

The Ice Pilots had 35 shots on goal, 22 penalty minutes and went 1-6 on the power play. Florida had 39 shots on goal, 16 penalty minutes and went 4-8 on the power play. The Ice Pilots dropped their record to 10-12-3 for 23 points and Florida improved their record to 16-7-1 for 33 points and their home winning streak improves to 11 games.

The Ice Pilots played the game with 14 skaters as forwards Adam Courchaine, Mark Rooneem, Chris St. Jacques and Luke Fulghum have been recalled to the American Hockey League and Jan ! Steber continues to be on the injured reserve list.

The Ice Pilots will play at Florida again on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. central time. It will be the final game for the Ice Pilots before the Christmas break. The Ice Pilots will be "Home for the Holidays" for five straight games beginning Wednesday, December 28 when the Ice Pilots host the Florida Everblades at the Pensacola Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. It is Family Night. Kids 12 and under can get in free to the game with a paid adult. A Post Game Skate will take place with the Ice Pilots' players. Admission and skate rental for the post game skate to skate with the players is $8.
