Lancaster Stormers News Release

LANCASTER, Pa.-Due to complications with the chilling process, the scheduled opening of the Ice Park at Clipper Magazine Stadium has been pushed back to Sunday, Dec. 7 at noon. The rink will be open to public skating from noon until 6 p.m.

"The good news is, we're going to be able to open this weekend," Lancaster Barnstormers general manager Vince Bulik said. "We're going to work around the clock tonight and Saturday night to make sure that the ice is ready and safe for skating on Sunday."

There's additional value in 2009 for skaters at Lancaster's only outdoor ice skating rink. Gone are 90-minute skating sessions, meaning admission will allow skaters to skate as long as they wish for one price. Regular admission to skate at the Ice Park is $6 per session. Ice skates can be rented for an additional $3.

"Admission and rental skates will cost the same as in the past," Bulik said. "Now skaters will be able to skate for as long as they want with the same admission price as before. It's another way to remind people how affordable we are here at the ballpark."

Several special discounts will apply all season long. All students who show a valid student ID at the box office will receive $1 off admission and children 12 and younger can skate at half price ($3) every Sunday. Every Thursday, skaters will have the opportunity to skate with Cylo and friends. Group discounts are also available.

The Ice Park will again be open for skating as part of Countdown Lancaster on Dec. 31. Skaters with a Countdown Lancaster button will skate for free from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

The Ice Park will be open Thursday-Sunday every weekend through March 1. The Ice Park will also be open special holiday hours from Dec. 26-Jan. 1, Jan. 19 and Feb. 16. A complete schedule of Ice Park hours and promotions is available at www.LancasterBarnstormers.com.
