
Ice Flyers Win 3-1, Force Deciding Game Sunday

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Pensacola Ice Flyers headed to Knoxville, Tenn. with their backs on the wall in need of a win to survive in the semi-final series against the Knoxville Ice Bears. Three different goal scorers contributed to the Ice Flyers' 3-1 win tonight.
Peter Neal gave the Ice Bears the 1-0 lead with a power play goal that came only five seconds into the first power play of the game. Despite trailing 1-0, the Ice Flyers out shot Knoxville 14-7 in the first period.
John Dunbar tied the game just 15 seconds into the middle period with a shot from the right wing faceoff dot that went over Knoxville goalie Bryan Hince's shoulder. Ryan Salvis and Brett Lutes assisted on the power play goal. The Ice Flyers took the lead when Mitchell Good tipped in an off balance shot from Joe Caveney with 8:48 left in the second.
The score remained 2-1 until only 35 seconds remained in the game. Drew Baker took the puck then fired it the length of the ice from right wing of the Ice Flyers' zone and into the empty Ice Bears net to make it 3-1.
Ross MacKinnon stopped 18 of Knoxville's 19 shots and was named the number one star of the game. Good was named the second star.
The Ice Flyers and Ice Bears will play the deciding game three of this series tomorrow night back in the Pensacola Bay Center at 6:05 p.m. The winner will take on the Columbus Cottonmouths in the 2014 SPHL President's Cup Finals.
