Columbus Takes Game One

The Columbus Cottonmouths used a sparkling performance by Andrew Loewen to take down the Huntsville Havoc, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Columbus' 1-0 shutout victory.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Huntsville faces elimination next time out. Shayne Stockton's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 4:35 in the second period. Tom Maldonado provided the assist. The Cottonmouths were led by Stockton, who tallied one goal.

Columbus was unable to stop the Havoc from sending pucks towards the net, and Huntsville eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Havoc did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Huntsville was led by Justin Cseter, who took eight shots. Loewen recorded 45 saves for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Havoc's Jesse Kallechy stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Huntsville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
