Ice Flyers Mark Hinz Named To SPHL All-Rookie Team

The SPHL announced their All-Rookie Team and the Ice Flyers very own, #15 Mark Hinz, was among those honored. Mark is tied for the league lead in goals by a defenseman, notching 12 this season, and has racked up a league leading 8 power-play goals from his position behind the blue line. Hinz joins the following players on the SPHL All-Rookie Team:

F - Jesse Biduke, Fayetteville FireAntz (45gp, 25g, 31a, 56pts, +5) F - Levi Lind, Columbus Cottonmouths (53gp, 19g, 33a, 52pts, +12) F - Jesse Cole, Columbus Cottonmouths (50gp, 28g, 21a, 49pts, +2) D - Dean Petiot, Huntsville Havoc (48gp, 2g, 9a, 11pts, +14) D - Mark Hinz, Pensacola Ice Flyers (48gp, 12g, 16a, 28p, E) G - Mark Sibbald, Huntsville Havoc (23gp, 15-3-3, 2.52 gaa,.919 save%)

Coach Todd Gordon said that Hinz has "demonstrated leadership above being a rookie and certainly deserves this honor." For his part, Mark Hinz has enjoyed his time here in Pensacola so far, saying "its been a lot of fun to come to the rink every day, it makes it easy to play hockey". He continued to praise the hard work and effort of the team stating that "it's a nice honor, but any individual award stems from team success and what your team mates do for you."

The Ice Flyers take the ice tonight for their final regular season home game against the Louisiana IceGators. The puck drops at 7:05pm and there are still some excellent seats to watch the Ice Flyers close out the regular season before heading into the playoffs.
