March 25, 2010 - SPHL (SPHL)
Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths claimed two of six spots on the SPHL All-Rookie team as forwards Jesse Cole and Levi Lind were selected for their accomplishments during the 2009-10 season. The top three rookie forwards, two defensemen and goaltender were voted on and selected by SPHL coaches and media representatives.
Cole came to the Snakes after four seasons with Neumann College. He currently leads all Snakes and SPHL rookies in goals scored with 28. His 49 overall points is second among Snakes and third among SPHL rookies. Cole has been a consistent offensive weapon for the Snakes all season. He has recorded points in 31 of 50 games played, including 13 multi-point games. He has recorded three hat tricks this season, one in November, February and March.
Lind joined the Snakes after two seasons with the Melville Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He is tied with veteran Tim Green as the Snakes' leading scorer with 52 points, ranking him 2nd among SPHL rookies. He leads the Snakes in assists, powerplay goals and plus/minus, and his 33 assists on the season leads all SPHL rookies. Levi has collected points in 32 of 53 games played, including 14 multi-point games. He recorded his first professional hat trick on November 20 against the Louisiana IceGators.
"At the beginning of the year, I knew I had something special in these two guys," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "I'm proud of what they have accomplished but I know both of them, and they're not satisfied with just a personal goal; they want a lot more, and that is a long run in the playoffs."
Other players selected to the SPHL All-Rookie team include forward Jesse Biduke from Fayetteville, defensemen Dean Petiot (Huntsville Havoc) and Mark Hinz (Pensacola Ice Flyers) and Huntsville goaltender Mark Sibbald.
