Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
Pensacola, Fl - The Pensacola Ice Flyers got upset by Huntsville Friday night in a low scoring match. Huntsville is currently in third place in the SPHL trailing by only four points to the Ice Flyers.
There was a total of 44 penalty minutes on 15 offenses in the hard hitting game. The Havoc's Center Ryan Kretzer was able to sneak one in against Pensacola's Goalie, Ryan Scott. Scott would end up recording 29 saves on 30 shots. The Ice Flyers attempted to battle back by pulling their goalie in the last minute of the game but were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net. "The guys really fought hard tonight and as a coach that's what you like to see. Unfortunately, we just couldn't seem to find the back of the net. Now we have to turn our attention to Mississippi tomorrow and hopefully regain sole possession of first place," Ice Flyers Head Coach Todd Gordon commented.
Both teams' goalies received star honors on the night. Huntsville's Mark Sibbald received a first star and Ryan Scott took home third star honors. Sibbald walked away with the shut out win notching 34 saves on 34 shots.
The Ice Flyers will play in The Hangar tomorrow night against the Mississippi Surge in Guaranteed Fight Night sponsored by Mediacom and WWE. The result of the game will decide which team will take back first place in the SPHL.
