Ice Flyers Lose Sole Possession of First Place

Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
Pensacola, Fl - The Pensacola Ice Flyers lose to the Fayetteville FireAntz Friday night in The Hangar. With the loss, the Ice Flyers now share first place with Mississippi in the SPHL.
The Ice Flyers began the game slow allowing the FireAntz forward Rob Sich to score the first of seven goals only six minutes into the period. It would be another eight minutes into the period before Kyle Dorowicz would put one between the pipes. Dorowicz was assisted by Dean Yakura and Tyler Soehner. DJ Fimiani would sneak another in against Ryan Scott with less than two minutes left in the third period. Scott recorded 19 saves on 26 shots on the night.
Jordan Behler led the FireAntz to a strong second period start scoring in a mere 28 seconds making the score 3-1. Tanner Shultz attempted to rally back for the Ice Flyers scoring shorthanded in the second minute of the period. Shultz was assisted by Matt Whitehead and Tyler Lyon. Whitehead is now third in overall scoring in the SPHL with 43 points. Fayetteville, however, would not allow the Ice Flyers to gain momentum after Shultz's goal, and would notch two more goals at the end of the second period by forwards Matt Piegza and Chris Leveille.
The Ice Flyers continued to fight back but would not be able to find the back of the net for the rest of the match. The FireAntz would put the nail in the coffin during the third scoring two more goals, putting the final at 7-2 in favor of the visitors.
