Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers, head coach Rod Aldoff, and forward David Segal announced the official retirement of Segal today.
Segal, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, instantly became a fan favorite in Pensacola. He retires after nine seasons of professional hockey, playing the majority of his career with the Knoxville Ice Bears. This season for the Ice Flyers, he appeared in 45 games and had five goals, four assists, and 247 penalty minutes. Throughout his professional career, Segal played in 390 games in the Southern Professional Hockey League, the International Hockey League, and the Federal Hockey League. During that time, he scored 97 goals and added 70 assists with 2,078 PIM.
"David was one of the few old school type of players left in the game, reading and willing to do anything for his teammates," Ice Flyers owner Greg Harris stated. "I've known David for quite a few years now and I am extremely happy to have had him here in an Ice Flyers jersey. David is a great team guy and he'll be missed out there on the ice, in the community and in the locker room. We wish him and his family the best of luck and thank him for his time in Pensacola."
