Peoria Defenseman Pszenyczny Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced defenseman Dave Pszenyczny of the Peoria Rivermen is the Easton Player of the Week for March 21-27.

Pszenyczny scored two goals, including one game-winner, added two assists and was +2 as the Rivermen swept a pair of games from Mississippi, clinching the SPHL's William B. Coffey Trophy in the process.

On Friday, the Sterling Heights, MI native scored Peoria's first goal of the game late in the second period and assisted on the game-tying goal with less than three minutes remaining in third, before scoring the game-winner just 44 seconds into overtime as the Rivermen rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Mississippi 3-2. With the win, Peoria captured their second consecutive regular season championship. The following night, Pszenyczny assisted on the eventual game-winning goal as the Rivermen shutout the RiverKings 2-0.

Since joining Peoria on December 30, Pszenyczny has 10 goals and 14 assists in just 31 games. His 10 goals and five power play goals are both tied for first among defensemen, while his 24 points from the blue line are tied for seventh-best.
