Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers' had another tough night in the Hangar losing to the Huntsville Havoc 3-0.
The first two goals from Huntsville came almost back to back. The first goal was scored with three minutes and fourteen seconds left in the second period and the second goal was scored thirty-five seconds later.
The Ice Flyers' had opportunities throughout the game but could not seem to get a goal in against the Havoc. The Ice Flyers' outshot the Havoc thirty four to thirty one but goalie McWhinney notched thirty four saves. The Ice Flyers battled back by scoring in the second period but the goal was ruled no good by the SPHL officials.
As a team, the Ice Flyers' racked up twenty more penalty minutes than the Havoc totaling thirty five minutes spent in the box. Even though Pensacola held Huntsville to no goals on their nine attempts during power players, the Ice Flyers' were unable to score on their own four.
This hard hitting game proved to fuel the SPHL rivalry between the teams. Going back to last season the Ice Flyers' are 1-4 against the reigning SPHL President's Cup Champions.
The Ice Flyers' will be back in the Hangar on November 12 which will be our Toys for Tots event night. Bring in an unopened toy and receive $2 off of your tickets and you will receive a raffle ticket for a replica Black and Gold Specialty Jersey. The next night, Saturday, November 13th, the Ice Flyers will honor the great military heritage along the Gulf Coast, particularly those in the Air Force with our Air Force Appreciation Night.
