Ice Flyers Fall to IceGators

February 13, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

Sunday night proved to be another disheartening night for Ice Flyers fans. It was another hard hitting match between the two squads as there was a total of 93 penalty minutes on 23 offenses, 6 of which were fighting.

"It's always a scrappy game when we face the IceGators. They have a good squad and something to prove after the slow start they had this season ." Head Coach Todd Gordon commented after the game. "All we can do is head into practice Monday with the right mindset, ready to work."

Although the crowd of just over 4,000 tried to will the Ice Flyers to victory, the game continued the longest losing streak of the season; now at 6. The IceGators goalie M. Brown received second star honors on the night recording 26 saves on 27 shots. The lone goal for the Ice Flyers was scored by Evan Schafer in the third period. Pensacola's net minder, Peter Hirsch, had 22 saves on 26 shots for the night.

The Ice Flyers will hit the road Thursday to play Augusta before returning home on Friday Friday February 18 for Military Appreciation night and Saturday February 19 for Weiner Dog Races. There will be a jersey auction held directly following the Friday night game and spots are still available to enter your Weiner dog in the race!
