Augusta RiverHawks News Release

An exhausted Augusta RiverHawks club fell Saturday night to the Knoxville Ice Bears 5-1 after a third-period collapse that saw them give up four goals. Ice Bears' star Emery Olauson led his team with three points in front of a sold-out Knoxville, TN crowd that was entertained by plenty of goals and fights along the way.

The RiverHawks got off to a great start as Travis Dunstall continued his tremendous offensive pace, scoring his eighth goal in just ten games with the team to take a one-goal lead. Before the end of the first period the Ice Bears were able to tie the game, as Mike Bulawka would give the home-town fans something to cheer about with a goal of his own.

The two teams battled to a scoreless second period, however they penalty boxes were filled with two separate fights and a number of minor penalty calls.

The third period continued in much the same vein penalty-wise, but not where goals were concerned, as the Ice Bears were able to pile up four to ensure the victory. Jason Ford, Tyler Fletcher, Bulakwa, and Olauson all scored in the span of just over ten minutes to turn the game into a landslide.

The two teams then again turned to fisticuffs with a number of fights breaking out before the end of the game. RiverHawks' forward Branden Kosolofsky was called for a spearing major penalty and was ejected from the game, and Aaron McGill racked up 27 penalty minutes in the third period alone.

The RiverHawks are back in action at the James Brown Arena Thursday, February 17th as they once again face Pensacola Ice Flyers. It's a Pucks, Bucks, and Brews night with dollar drafts.
