
Ice Flyers Fall to Fayetteville 3-0

PENSACOLA, FL - T he Pensacola Ice Flyers hosted the Fayetteville FireAntz for the second night in a row and, unfortunately, tonight's game didn't end how the Ice Flyers wanted it to. Pensacola lost 3-0 to the FireAntz.
The FireAntz took the 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal just 11 seconds after going shorthanded and 4:24 into the first period. Fayetteville took two penalties in the final 10 seconds of the frame to give the Ice Flyers a 5-on-3 power play for the first 1:51 of the second. After the first, the two teams were tied in shots at 9.
The Ice Flyers controlled play for most of the period, out shooting Fayetteville 14-5, but it was the FireAntz who got the only goal in the second. Kyle McNeil scored with 2:56 left in the second to give Fayetteville their 2-0 lead.
Fayetteville iced the game with an empty net goal scored by Bobby Reed, unassisted, with only 7 seconds left in the game. Pensacola outshot Fayetteville 40-19 but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Johnny Griggs stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced.
The Ice Flyers' next game is Friday, Dec. 27 when they take on the Mississippi RiverKings at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. face off.
