
Ice Flyers End the Regular Season at Home with a Shutout by Billett

PENSACOLA, FL. - The Ice Flyers shutout the Birmingham Bulls 3-0 for their last home game of regular season in front of 4,513 fans. The Ice Flyers goals were scored by Garrett Milan and David Mazurek who scored two.
David Mazurek put the Ice Flyers on the board at 10:23 in the first period, with assists coming from Kyle Campbell and Troy Vance. At 15:53, Garrett Milan brought the Ice Flyers score up to two on the power play. He was assisted by Charlie Adams and Jessyko Bernard. The Ice Flyers outshot the Bulls 16 to 8.
David Mazurek scored the lone goal in the second period at 4:34. Chapen LeBlond and Josh Cousineau tallied assists on the goal. Once again, the Ice Flyers outshot the Bulls 15-10.
The third period was a physical one with a total of 59 penalty minutes between the two teams. Just 37 seconds into the third, John Rey hit Garrett Milan, drawing a charging major, as well as a 10-minute game misconduct, and a fighting major. Charlie Adams fought Rey after the hit, earning a five-minute fighting major himself. Rey was then ejected from the game. At 5:39, Evan Schultz was issued two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as 10 minutes for verbal abuse of officials. At 11:34, Andrew Darrigo and David Mazurek earned four minutes each for roughing. Chad Thibodeau at 14:33 was issued two minutes for roughing and 10 for continuing altercation. To close out the period, Nathan Bruyere earned two minutes for high sticking at 17:00. The Bulls outshot the Ice Flyers for the first time in the game 11-6.
Notes:
Brian Billet blocked all 29 shots faced for his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
David Mazurek scored two goals in tonight's game, as well as tallied eight penalties.
Pensacola totaled 27 penalty minutes on 8 penalties. Birmingham totaled 44 penalty minutes on 11 penalties.
The Ice Flyers will be on the road for the final weekend of regular season. First, the Ice Flyers will play against the Mayhem in Macon on Thursday, April 5 at 6:35 p.m. They will then travel to Knoxville to take on the Ice Bears in back-to-back games Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 at 6:35 p.m.
The SPHL Challenge Round Show will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8 at Buffalo Wild Wings. During this show, the top four teams in the league will select who they want to face off against in the first round of the 2018 SPHL Playoffs. The full team will be in attendance, and the show will be broadcast on Facebook Live. There will be multiple raffles and fun games going on during the show for the fans in attendance.
