Ice Flyers Declare The Year of the Wingman and Launch New Website

August 10, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

With the rich base of aviation history in the Pensacola area, the "Wingman" brings a familiar tone and concept to the Pensacola Ice Flyers and their fans. The organization has officially designated the 2011-2012 season as the Year of the Wingman. Fans can become a Wingman when a full season, half season, or 7-game flex pack is purchased for the 2011-2012 season. It creates a unique identity for season ticket and 7-game flex pack holders, while drawing a metaphoric picture to the support the organization is in search of. In a time when the County Commissioners have challenged the people of Escambia County to show their support and fight alongside the team, the Year of the Wingman generates a path for Ice Flyer fans to accept and meet this challenge.

The Ice Flyers have expanded this concept in different directions to enhance the benefits of becoming a Wingman. A Wingman Card will be given to every season ticket holder and 7-game flex pack holder for which they can show at select businesses in the Pensacola area to receive discounts. The organization is also working on the Wingman Deal of the Week, where businesses can grant a week of special discounts for the Wingmen. This method is set to direct traffic towards and generate sales for local businesses. Any business interested in taking part in the Wingman Deal of the Week is to call the Ice Flyers' office at 850-466-3111.

The VIP Club has been renamed The Wingman Club. Special access to the club with their passes enables season ticket and 7-game flex pack holders to enjoy food and beverages during the game and intermissions while connecting with and getting to know other Wingmen of the Ice Flyers. Exclusive Wingman merchandise (polos, hats, hoodies, shirts and jerseys) with a new Wingman logo will also be available to purchase inside The Wingman Club only. The new logo is currently in the works and will be released soon. A complete list of Wingman Benefits is posted on the Ice Flyers' new website, which they have just launched as well.

As part of a long-term strategy to better connect the fans of the Pensacola Ice Flyers to the organization and, more importantly, the Ice Flyers' players, the team has officially launched its new website at www.pensacolaiceflyers.com.

It is an entirely new look and feel that incorporates new features and easier navigation throughout the entire site. Once the players arrive on the coast for the 2011-2012 season, the team plans to create a complete interactive profile of each player that will permit the Wingmen and other fans to get to know the players on a deeper level.

Coming soon will be even more options to view the game schedule. However, the newest addition to the schedule will be that of upcoming events at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Flyers want to assist in the promotion of events taking place in hopes to draw more people to concerts, public skating and other happenings at the Civic Center. The organization is also committing to have the Ice Flyer players out to more public skates throughout the winter.

The Ice Flyers continually search for different ways to help promote sponsors and other local businesses, and to add value to their partnerships. This is where the new section for Maverick, the Ice Flyers' mascot, comes into play on the new website. Maverick's new blog will include writings, video and pictures of his landings throughout the Pensacola area. Another new feature to the new site will be a business section. The information provided here will be directed towards local business owners and managers and will include a discussion on various aspects of the world of business.
