Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. (Aug. 25, 2015) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers and Head Coach Rod Aldoff have announced that veteran defenseman Cole Ruwe has signed with the team for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
"I am very happy Cole wants to be an Ice Flyer. He's as solid of a defenseman as you'll find and as solid of a person as you'll find," Aldoff said.
Ruwe is a native of Pekin, Ill., and comes to the Ice Flyers from the Peoria Rivermen where he was the captain the past two seasons. Ruwe will begin his seventh professional season this fall. Last season with Peoria, he appeared in 39 games scoring five goals, adding 18 assists, 80 penalty minutes, and a +5 plus/minus rating.
"My family and I couldn't be more excited to join the Ice Flyers organization," Ruwe stated. "Pensacola is one of those places everyone wants to play. It's a great area, supportive fan base, and the team is always a contender. I'm looking forward to contributing to that success."
"He will bring experience and leadership on and off the ice and he competes at the highest level each and every day," Aldoff added. "I know our fans will appreciate his game and I'm excited for him that he's in an Ice Flyer jersey and I look forward to coaching him."
