Kootenay Ice News Release

Cranbrook, BC -- Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced Director of Scouting Garnet Kazuik, Assistant Coach Kris Knoblauch and Athletic Therapist Brad Shaw have each signed two year contract extensions with the Club through the 2010-2011 season.

"We are very happy that each of these individuals will be returning to our Hockey Club. The success we have maintained over the past 11 years both on and off the ice can partially be attributed to having good people in key positions. Stability and continuity are the key to any successful organization and these three gentlemen are a big part of what we are all trying to achieve", continued Chynoweth.

Garnet Kazuik is finishing up his second season as Director of Scouting for the ICE. He also spent two years (2005 - 2007) as an Alberta Scout for the Club. Garnet played in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina Pats (1984-1987).

Kris Knoblauch has been with the Club since August 2007. Kris played three seasons in the Western Hockey League and was a member of both the Edmonton (1997-1998) and Kootenay ICE (1988-1999). He also played with the Red Deer Rebels (1996-1997) and Lethbridge Hurricanes (1998-1999). Kris was an Assistant Coach with the Prince Albert Raiders for one season prior to joining the ICE (2006-2007).

Brad Shaw has been with the organization since May 2007. He came to the ICE after spending three years as the Head Athletic Therapist with the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Club (2005-2007). He also has worked for the Canadian Men's Volleyball team (2007).
