Ice Dogs grab some "O" from the "u"

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that winger Mark Odut has agreed to terms for the 2006-2007 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 5' 11", 175-pound, native of Dauphin, Manitoba has played his entire professional career with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League (UHL). In 133 regular season games with the River Otters, the 26-year-old scored 36 goals, 32 assists, 68 points, and recorded 91 penalty minutes. Odut also added a goal in six playoff games with Missouri. Mark was named an All Star his rookie season as he scored 24 goals in 71 games for Missouri. Before turning pro, Odut played three seasons for South Alberta Institute of Technology and scored 117 points in 84 games.

"Odut has the reputation as a very smart hockey player," said Managing Partner/Owner Steven Bash. "The Ice Dogs are very pleased that Mark has decided to start his ECHL career here in Long Beach."

"Mark had an outstanding rookie campaign in the UHL scoring 24 goals," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "He is well schooled defensively. I expect him to step it up in the ECHL and become a better player over the course of the season here with the Ice Dogs."

"I am very excited to start my first season in the ECHL, especially in Long Beach," said Odut. "I am a responsible player at both ends of the ice with a pretty good scoring touch. Long Beach fans can expect me to work hard, dig in the corners, and find the back of the net."
