Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that forward Marcel Bourdase, a native of Clovis, and defenseman Sean Castagna, a San Jose native, have been invited to participate in the team's 2006-07 training camp, which begins October 7.

Bourdase played four years with Fresno State's club hockey team, scoring 183 points in 97 games. He scored 20 or more goals in three of his four seasons with the Bulldogs, and eclipsed the 50-point mark on two occasions. In addition to his four years with Fresno State, Bourdase also played 12 games with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL in 2000-01.

Castagna comes to the Falcons' camp after a four-year career at the NCAA Division III level. He played his first year of collegiate hockey at New England College, before transferring to Buffalo State prior to the 2003-04 season. While with the Bengals, he was named First Team All-SUNYAC Conference and also earned the SUNYAC Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award in 2004-05. Castagna scored 35 points on 10 goals and 25 assists in 75 career games at Buffalo State.

"It's a tribute to California and its youth hockey programs that Marcel and Sean will be attending our training camp," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "Both of them will be given every opportunity to make the team, and we are excited to see what they have to offer when training camp begins in two weeks."
