PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that free agent forwards Kyle Musselman and Shawn Futers have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2006-07 season.
Musselman, 21, accumulated 18 major penalties and 176 penalty minutes in 67 games last season as a rookie with the Dayton Bombers to finish second on the club in each category and tied for fifth overall among ECHL rookies. The Whitby, Ontario native and second-year pro also chipped in offensively with seven goals and 14 points. Prior to beginning his professional career, the six-foot, 190-pound Musselman spent parts of three seasons in both the Ontario Hockey League and the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Futers, 21, led the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League in 2005-06 with 13 major penalties and a team-high 251 penalty minutes in 51 games. The second-year pro from Sarnia, Ontario finished third overall among CHL rookies in penalty minutes and tied for fifth in major penalties. A 6-foot-1, 230-pound winger, Futers is also a product of the OHL spending time in Sarnia, London, Peterborough, and Kingston.
Musselman and Futers join a RoadRunners roster that includes forwards Aaron Slattengren, Brett Smith, Chase Trull, and Tommy Maxwell, defensemen Brent Henley, Dusty Demianiuk, David Pszenyczny, and Andrew Winnik, and goaltender Mike Mole.
Individual game tickets for the 2006-07 regular season will go on sale to the general public beginning at 10AM Monday, September 25 at the US Airways Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Ticketmaster.com.
