ICE Conclude Three-In-Three in Portland

Kent, WA - The Kootenay ICE (7-19-3-1) conclude a three games in three days stretch against the Portland Winterhawks (15-10-0-2) at Moda Centre on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT.

Sunday's game is also the final game of thethree-game U.S. road swing for the ICE.

The ICE are coming off of a 3-0 loss to the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, December 1, 2018. ICE goaltender Jesse Makaj was outstanding, stopping 42-of-44 shots in the loss. He was named the second star of the game. Newly acquired forwards Austin Schellenberg and River Fahey made their ICE debut. The Silvertips received goals from Luke Ormsby, Bryce Kindopp and Gianni Fairbrother. 'Tips goaltender Max Palaga stopped all 36 shots that came his way. The ICE were outshot 45-36. They went 0-for-4 on the power play, 0-for-1 on the penalty kill and won 20-of-57 face-offs.

ICE forward Peyton Krebs is expected to play in his 100th career WHL regular season game on Sunday. Krebs made his WHL debut on November 16, 2016.

The ICE have amassed 18 points this season, which is good for sixth in the Central Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

The ICE have a road record of 2-8-2-1.

The Portland Winterhawks host the Kootenay ICE for the first and only time this season on Sunday, December 2, 2018. The Winterhawks are in the middle of a four-game homestand. Following Sunday's game, the Winterhawks host the Prince George Cougars on Friday, December 7. Heading into Sunday's game, the Winterhawks are second in the U.S. Division and third in the Western Conference.

The Winterhawks are coming off of an 8-2 victory over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The Winterhawks received two goals from Ryan Hughes, while Lane Gilliss, Joachim Blichfeld, Jake Gricius, Jaydon Dureau, Seth Jarvis and Reece Newkirk added the others. Blichfeld and Cody Glass each collected three points in the game. Goaltender Shane Farkas stopped 18-of-20 shots that came his way. The Winterhawks outshot Spokane 44-20. They went 1-for-2 on the power play, 1-for-2 on the penalty kill and won 31-of-58 face-offs.

The Winterhawks have collected 32 points this season, which is good for second in the U.S. Division and third in the Western Conference.

The Winterhawks have a home record of 10-5-0-0.

HEAD TO HEAD

This is the first and only meeting of the season between the ICE and the Winterhawks. The last time these two teams played was on November 21, 2017 at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook, which turned out to be a 5-2 win for the 'Hawks. The last time the ICE and the 'Hawks met in Portland was on December 3, 2016, a 3-2 victory for the visitors.

The ICE are 1-1-1 in its last three games against Portland.
