Americans Fall 5-2 to B.C. Division Leading Giants

The Americans matched up with the Vancouver Giants tonight for the first time this season. The two teams faced off at the Pacific Coliseum, the former home of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.

Vancouver opened scoring tonight with a power play goal from Milos Roman at 3:05. Evan Patrician scored at 12:46, unassisted directly after leaving the penalty box, to give Vancouver a two goal lead.

Isaac Johnson put the Americans on the board with a power play goal 8:25, assisted by Sam Stewart and Connor Bouchard. The second period proceeded with back and forth scoring between the two teams. Dawson Holt scored Vancouver's third at 14:56.

Parker AuCoin notched a power play goal at 16:35, assisted by Krystof Hrabik and Aaron Hyman Tonight is the first time that the Americans have scored two power play goals since October 27 against the Spokane Chiefs.

Braden Watts responded with one last goal in the second period to give Vancouver a 4-2 lead heading into the final twenty minutes.

The Americans had a 5-on-3 power play opportunity for 59 seconds in the third period but there unable to capitalize. Vancouver's Bowen Byram scored the only goal in the third period on a shorthanded empty-net breakaway.

Final score: 5-2 Giants

Final shots: 37-26 Giants
