Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

KNOXVILLE, TN (February 27, 2012) - The Knoxville Ice Bears' Head Coach Mike Craigen announced today that the club has traded the rights of defenseman Derek Foam to the Huntsville Havoc for the rights defenseman Shaun Arvai and acquired defenseman Ryan Ramage in exchange for cash from the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

Arvai, 29 (10/06/1982), has 8 points (2G - 6A) in 18 games for the Havoc. The University of Alabama - Huntsville graduate played 35 games for the Havoc during the 2010-2011 season registering 34 points (5G - 19A) in 35 games played. Most recently Arvai spent three games with the South Carolina Stingrays.

"Shaun Arvai is a proven, quality defenseman at this level with great experience and Championship knowledge." Said Craigen, "We gave up a great young player with lots of potential because we feel Shaun can help us right now, in the present."

Ramage, 23, (05/05/1988), has 12 points (2G - 10A) in 40 games played between the Mississippi RiverKings and the Ice Flyers. The Ft. Erie, Ontario native started his professional career with the Knoxville Ice Bears during the 2010-2011 campaign where he played 25 games before he was released and being picked up by Pensacola. Ramage made his way to Mississippi via the dispersal draft from Pensacola.

"Rammer is familiar with this organization and after a year away from the team we're hoping that his game has developed enough and that his time away from Knoxville has made him realize just how great a place it is to live and play." Said Craigen. "We were in the market for a right handed d-man to solidify our blue line and Ryan definitely fits that bill."

The Ice Bears travel to Louisiana as they take on the IceGators for a two game series. They will return to home ice on Thursday, March 8 for a game against the number 1 ranked team in the SPHL the Augusta RiverHawks. The $1,000 Thursday is Youth Sports Night and Mascot Mania. The puck drops at 7:30.
