Ice Bears Fall to Columbus in Shootout

Knoxville, TN Evan Neugold scored the only goal in the shootout and the Columbus Cottonmouths defeated the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-2 Saturday night in front of a crowd of 4,328. Knoxville has secured at least a point in the standings in seven of its last eight.

Petr Senkepik put Columbus ahead with a snap shot from the right circle, beating Brian Billet's right pad with 2:03 remaining in the second. The Ice Bears failed to convert on five power plays through the first two periods.

Mark Pustin scored early in the third off a loose puck in the slot to tie the game for Knoxville. Columbus retook the lead at 9:33 of the third when Jonathan Turk tapped in a one-timer in front of the crease. Justin Gvora forced overtime when he slid in a wraparound past Spencer Bacon with 2:08 left in regulation
