
Ice Flyers Outshoot Macon, Fall 2-1

MACON, Ga. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (20-17-7) outshot the Macon Mayhem (30-8-5) once again but fell 2-1 in a tight battle on Sunday afternoon inside the Macon Coliseum.
Through 20 minutes, the Mayhem held the one-goal lead thanks to an even strength tally scored by Dennis Sicard with 6:15 left in the first period.
After a scoreless second, the Ice Flyers tied the game up when Massimo Lamacchia crashed the net and redirected a pass from Aaron Clarke. Clarke had the only assist on the goal scored with 9:03 left in regulation. Unfortunately, the Mayhem regained the lead just two minutes later with a power play goal scored by Stephen Pierog with 7:04 left in the third.
John McLean stopped 23 of Macon's 25 shots on goal and his record fell to 7-6-0 on the year.
The Ice Flyers will be back on the road next weekend when they make their first ever trip to Evansville, Ind., to take on the Evansville Thunderbolts in a pair of games on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 1 1. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Central Time both nights.
