Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN -Knoxville Ice Bears Head Coach Mike Craigen announced today that the club has acquired forward Brett Liscomb from the Pensacola Ice Flyers for defenseman Chris Pontes.

Liscomb, 25 (1/28/1986), appeared in 52 games last season for the Ice Flyers, registering 50 points (18 g - 32 a) and 36 penalty minutes. The Long Sault, ONT native has amassed 63 point (24 g - 39 a) and 56 minutes in penalties in 62 SPHL games over the past two season with Huntsville and Pensacola. Prior to making his SPHL debut with the Liscomb has made stops in Dayton (ECHL) and Tulsa (CHL). Prior to turning professional he played for the Ottawa 67's where he played with NHL players Jamie McGinn and Logan Couture both of who play with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL.

"We had the opportunity to acquire an established, point producing player at this level and jumped at the chance. Brett will definitely add some punch to an offensive attack that is starting to really take shape for next season," said Head Coach Mike Craigen. "As is the case in most situations, in order to attain value you have to give up value and we did just that in sending Chris Pontes to Pensacola to get Brett. Chris is an excellent, young player and an even better person who has a very bright future in hockey and he'll be missed in Knoxville."

The Knoxville Ice Bears kick off the season on Friday, October 21st at 7:30 pm at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The evening will feature a tribute to the launch of the 10th Anniversary Season.

Season Tickets are on sale for as low as $49.00 per month. For information please call the Knoxville Ice Bears office at (865) 525-7825 for more information.
