Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today, the Southern League announced that Ibandel Isabel was named a 2019 Southern League Postseason All-Star. This season, the first baseman hit .243 with 26 homers and drove in 69 runs. He also posted an on-base percentage of .307, a slugging percentage of .566 and an OPS of .825.
Despite only playing in 91 games, Isabel leads the league in homers with 26 and slugging percentage at .518. He also currently ranks second in the league in RBIs with 69. Isabel's 26 dingers are also the most in all of Double-A baseball and are the most by a Lookouts hitter since Adam Brett Walker II had 31 in 2015.
The 24-year-old right-hander was in prime form between May 20th and 28th when he was tied first in Double-A baseball with 11 RBIs and ranked second in long balls with six and slugging percentage with a .893 mark. That included a stretch of five straight games with a home run.
2019 marks the second time Isabel has been named a postseason all-star after being named a California League Post Season All-Star in 2017.
