JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp shortstop Jazz Chisholm has earned a Southern League Postseason All-Star nod, the league announced on Wednesday. The award is the first postseason honor of Chisholm's career.
In 112 games this season between both Jacksonville and Jackson in the Southern League, Chisholm has batted .220/.321/.441 (121 wRC+) with 10 doubles, seven triples, 21 home runs, 54 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. The 21-year-old currently ranks in a tie for second in the circuit in home runs and fourth in triples.
A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Chisholm was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31 to the Miami Marlins in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen. In 23 games with the Jumbo Shrimp since that deal, Chisholm is slashing .284/.383/.494 (156 wRC+) with four doubles, two triples, three homers, 10 RBIs and three stolen bases. He hit .204/.305/.427 (112 wRC+) in 89 games with Jackson prior to the trade.
Chisholm's selection marks the seventh consecutive season that Jacksonville has earned at least one Southern League Postseason All-Star nod. Outfielder Monte Harrison and third baseman Brian Schales were selected as the Jumbo Shrimp's Postseason All-Stars in 2018.
